Having type 2 diabetes doesn’t mean you can’t go out to dinner on occasion. The key is to be picky about where and what you eat. It is your body after all and you’re in control of feeding it good nutritious foods. Avoid anything fried or heavy such as hamburgers, fried chicken or desserts. Instead, find a good establishment that offers fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and grilled or broiled entrees. Don’t be afraid or shy about asking for special dietary considerations when ordering such as asking that condiments and dressings be served on the side, or asking that food not be prepared with butter. It’s also important to space out your meals accordingly and to never eat dinner late.
